The Museum of the History of Sofia opened its doors in 2015 in the beautiful building of the old Central Bathhouse. Its exhibition traces over eight thousand years of the city’s rich and fascinating history — from the Neolithic period to the 1940s. In the museum’s halls, you will explore the centuries-long history of the city up to its designation as the capital of Bulgaria in 1879, and through the decades leading to the wars of 1912–1918. You will learn more about the key historical events that shaped the city’s destiny and immerse yourself in the daily life of old Sofia residents.
